problem with excluded covariates

I have a bunch of covariates and a bunch of labels.

I exclude all the covariates from the analyses (right click --> exclude) -- then I save and exit. When I re-open there is no covariate column (no data); the names of the covariates appear in the standard names of the numerical data.

using 2 group binary.

Might it be overwriting the temporary dataset (that has nno covariates active ) to the real dataset (that has covariate data)?
